The UPENDO Children’s Village e.V. was founded on the 7th of April 2006 in Berlin.

By now we are about 100 members.

The association is lawfully registered at the Charlottenburg District court under the reference “VR-Nr. 28989 B“. It is located in Berlin and is purely non-profit making. Because of its promotion of development in Africa, the district tax office in Berlin (Finanzamt für Körperschaften I) has deemed it to be especially worthy of support.

The aims defined in its constitution are to be achieved by financial means resulting from membership dues and sponsorship.

In Kenya, only charitable and non-profit making organisations are allowed financial autonomy.

Decisions concerning the village, the children or e.g. investions do obtain in last instance to the african management of the village – the UPENDO Village Trust Foundation (UVT).

Once a year the association arranges a general meeting fort he members.
